Large Georgian Library Telescope

A very large Georgian solid brass telescope by Gilbert & Co Ltd. rated amongst the very best of the period.
The telescope was manufactured between 1800-1806 and bears the manufacturers engraved marks.
The main lens is 3″ diameter and the telescope overall is 5′ 3″ (160cm) long when fully extended. Fine focus is obtained using the adjuster knob on the side of the telescope.The telescope stands on a heavy solid brass tripod base.
This elegant telescope is in very good condition, the brass is polished and the lenses have been cleaned. The quality of the optics is commensurate with the age and period.
