In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Madgwick traveled to Italy where he painted Venetian and Florentine landscapes and architecture.
He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and frequently exhibited in his native Britain until his death in 2005 in Suffolk, United Kingdom. Madgwick’s oil paintings are in the collection of Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.
