Pair of Regency Giltwood Wall Sconces, ca 1820
Irish Artist Robert Richard Scanlan (1801-1876) Pair Of Watercolours of Revellers in the Tavern.
Pair of early 19th century watercolours by Robert Richard Scanlan (1801-1876) who was an Irish artist who specialised in portrait groups illustrating the humour in Irish society.
This pair of watercolours shows men in a tavern and paying particular attention to their faces. Very skilfully executed and full of Irish humour.
Housed in the original frames and mounts, there are signs of yellowing commensurate with age, However, the paintings themselves are in quite good condition. Signed and dated 1838 and 1840.
R.R. Scanlan’s works have become very collectable and sadly hard to come by.
