Pair of Regency Giltwood Wall Sconces, ca 1820

£1,150.00

A superb and large pair of wall sconces from the early Regency period.

in original condition without any restoration apart from a good clean.

We believe that they would have been created right after the death of George lll due to the black painted doves which would have been a sign of mourning. This was evident in much furniture during that period.

The eagles hold a chain in their beaks which terminate with a carved tassel. Please see the photos with our dog (Bailey) who kindly posed to demonstrate the size.
