Oil on Canvas Painting by Ian Cryer – “The Morning Commute”
A beautiful and atmospheric oil on canvas by Ian Cryer – “The Morning Commute”
In excellent condition in its sympathetically refreshed original frame.
Ian Cryer is President and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (FROI). He is widely celebrated for his “modern impressionist” oil paintings of timeless railway imagery, landscapes, and everyday British life.
Born in Bristol in 1959, Ian Cryer has painted professionally since he was 16 years old when he had his first one man show. With no formal fine art education, Ian took work in order to attend evening classes with Leonard Boden RP to develop and hone his skills.
Ian loves to paint anything to do with railways and many paintings have been sold at galleries all over England.
“I am a West Country based English artist with a great love of railways and all things west of Paddington. I tell people my life is not about painting; my painting is about my life. No mere observer, I have engaged with all the subject matter I paint and feel the skills and experience I have acquired outside of painting help colour my interpretations. My love of painting and preserving things are closely aligned in my life, after all what is painting but an attempt to freeze a moment and preserve it for posterity.” Ian Cryer
