Pair of Regency Giltwood Wall Sconces, ca 1820

Pair of French Spelter Figures after Auguste Moreau (1834-1917)

A good pair of spelter figures after August Moreau, featuring a country boy and a girl.
The girl wears an apron which holds fruit and has a pair of geese at her feet.
The boy is barefoot and carries a jug and holds a stick.
They have originally been very subtly painted and the effect is very attractive.
They stand on black wooden plinths. Both are signed and they also have plates with the artist’s name inscription.

Auguste Moreau (1834 – 1917) was a French sculptor born in Dijon. The third and youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau, Auguste began creating sculptural works alongside his older brothers Hippolyte and Mathurin.
