Pair of Chinese Foo Dog Censers

A fabulous pair of early 18th/ 19th Century Foo dog censers in brass.

Decorated all over, with winged legs and shoulders and a battle headdress, they are heavy with each one weighing in at 4.6 kg.

There is a loss of one leg wing and part of a shoulder wing tip to one dog which we only noticed whilst photographing them. However, it doesn’t in anyway take away from them.

They are the best and most impressive we have seen with an imposing presence, atmosphere and sense of antiquity.
