Lacquered and Gilded Salon Window Seat, ca 1880

A late Victorian black lacquered floral polychrome and gilt decorated two seater salon window seat, with Rattan cane seats.

The backrest central column is beautifully and colourfully decorated with flowers, foliage and gilding. The chaise is decorated on all stretchers, supports and arms with gilded scroll decoration.

The chaise is stable with no breaks or mends.  The cane seating is in excellent condition with no breaks.  There is some rubbing wear to the gilt paintwork, commensurate with age and use, but the painted decoration is very attractive and pleasing to the eye.
