Pair of Regency Giltwood Wall Sconces, ca 1820
Early Portrait in Oil on Copper.
A portrait which is late 17th Century or early 18th Century, oil on copper and possibly of the Virgin Mary.
This is not certain as there is no halo nor the usual hands joined in prayer. It is in a later frame which is beautifully carved and enhanced with a small amount of gilding, enhancing the portrait well.
Perhaps the painting was once framed under glass (often the case with paintings on copper) as the condition is very good.
It is a lovely piece with much atmosphere. The painting itself measures 25.5cm long and 20.5cm wide.
