17th Century Oil on Canvas after Giovanni Battista Salvo Da Sassoferrato (1609-1685)

An Italian school 17th Century oil on canvas after Giovanni Salvo Da Sassoferrato (1609-1685).
The painting depicts “La Sainte Famille” and is framed in an elaborately carved Italian giltwood frame with the artist’s name painted on the surround.
When we found it, the painting was under glass which has protected it well for many years. Prior to that it has possibly had some over painting and a generous coat of lacquer.
For its age, the painting is in very good condition with no losses.
We have had it very lightly cleaned and we are delighted with the results.
It is a beautiful piece of 17th century art.
