BIOGRAPHY.
\nPhyllis Morgans lived at Walberswick, Suffolk and was the wife of Dr W M Morgans FRSC.<\/p>\n
She trained at St Martin\u2019s School of Art, London. Her career started in graphic art when she became a fashion artist and designer. Her love of portraiture took her into the field of oils and, in turn, led her to painting landscapes, seascapes, flowers etc. in all types of media.<\/p>\n
She was awarded the Freedom of the \u201cWorshipful Company of Painters\u201d and was a member of the \u201cRoyal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art\u201d. Her work had resulted in many awards including the winning of a national contest organised by the magazine \u201cShe\u201d and the emblem of the \u201cTradescant Trust\u201d was designed by her.
\nShe was chosen to represent the \u201cRoyal Society of Marine Artists\u201d, the \u201cRoyal Institute of Oil Paintings\u201d, the \u201cIndustrial Painting Group\u201d and contemporary artists in municipal galleries and abroad.<\/p>\n
Her work had also been favourably reviewed in the \u201cJournal of the Federation of British Artists\u201d, \u201cArts Review, London\u201d, \u201cLa Revue Moderne, Paris\u201d and \u201cDiario da Manha, Lisbon\u201d.<\/p>\n
Phyllis Morgans held a considerable number of solo shows and many of her works had been reproduced, several in the \u201cLaing\u201d calendars.<\/p>\n
